Yes, that 85% stat doesn’t surprise me. Where is it from? I don’t think anyone hears themselves being called fat as just an observation. It’s never meant as one; it’s meant as an insult or a form of pity. Usually insult, as if a person can’t figure that out himself. I find it interesting that when discussing the increase of stress and coping mechanisms, folks often want to talk about how being fat-bullied can lead to more eating and more fat. It’s ironic, sure, I get that. And also may be irrelevant to being fat. (Or at least tangentially related.) That is, lots of people eat for comfort and only some of them are fat. I’d rather focus in on how we come to value all people and make “bullying” a stupid thing no one would even think to do. Thanks for your comments.
